Quality Certification

All of the EuroEyes Clinics are ISO9001 certified and thereby fulfill the strict ISO9001 requirements for Lens- and laser eye surgeries.

Berlin, Hamburg, Leipzig, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Munich and Hanover are first certified according to ISO 9001:2008 standards and have thereby a proven record of high standards in the areas of laser and lens surgery.

Quality and Safety: We Never Compromise

Be aware about the difference: Many Laser Eye Centers advertise with the ISO9001 seal on their website. In many cases this only refers to a ISO seal for tested service features, and has nothing to do with the strict technical inspection of ISO9001! The ISO9001 seal of approval helps inform the patient, and assists in choosing a professional LASIK clinic. It attests the highest possible quality standards in the entire clinical organization. Certified EuroEyes clinics are located in Hamburg, Berlin, Hanover, Stuttgart, Düsseldorf, Leipzig and Munich.

Objective Quality

Eye Surgeries Are a Matter of Trust

The objective proof of quality is of great importance to the patients looking for the right clinic for lens or laser surgery. To cater for this need, the Association of Special Clinics in Germany for Laser Eye and Refractive Surgery (VSDAR), medical professional associations, and the ISO9001 originated the ISO9001 seal of approval. It provides the patients with orientation and allows the laser eye centers to have their quality of work evaluated by a neutral third party. Since December 2006, our laser eye center was among Germany's first five clinics to ever be awarded with this seal of approval.

In Germany, more than 120 LASIK centers carry out the so-called LASIK treatment (Laser in Situ Keratomileusis), which makes up more than 90% of all laser treatments. However, who trusts a surgeon enough to let him work on one's eye with a sharp device?

Experience has shown that, besides the word-of-mouth recommendation, the verification of quality through a third party counts the most, such as the ISO9001, who has dealt with the elements of quality and quality management in healthcare for years, and is the authority within this field.

The Criteria

Focus on Surgeon Experience and Hygiene

The "Eye Surgery Quality" inspects equipment and organizational processes, as well as qualification and experience of surgeons and staff, and looks at the hygiene requirements and treatment results. Additionally, they require that patients are regularly asked about their satisfaction following their treatment.

Furthermore, ISO9001's list of criteria includes concrete requirements, such as:

  • LASIK surgeons, who are mentioned under the seal of quality must be able to document that they have independently performed more than 1,000 LASIK surgeries during the past five years.
  • Patients must be thoroughly informed about risks of the procedure
  • Every provider of LASIK must have a hygiene representative
  • Every ISO clinic must present results to the third party expert to get the results reviewed.
  • Once a year, every TÜV clinic will have their surgical results and possible complications reviewed.

The Experts

Review according to Latest Findings

The high level of ISO9001 is primarily based on two decisive factors: First of all, it is based on the internationally acclaimed quality management system DIN EN ISO 9001:2008, and places certain demands on LASIK and hygiene. Secondly, the reviews are carried out by a body of experts, who are all recruited from various refractive surgery associations. Consequently, only trained ophthalmologists educated by ISO with regard to the test procedure, who are continuously receiving further training. Furthermore, it is ensured that the surveyors rotate and will be updated according to the criteria at least once a year. Today the ISO seal is indefinite for EuroEyes, however, treatments and hygiene are still carefully evaluated each year. Last but not least, thanks to this objective third party inspection of ISO9001, you can feel safe that you entrust your eyes to certified specialist.
