  • 1995 Research stay on impaired healing after Excimer Laser treatments at St. Thomas's Hospital, London, UK.
  • 1998 Shadowing at the University of Dresden, Department of Refractive Surgery.
  • 1999 Shadowing at Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary (Harvard Medical School Affiliate), Boston, U.S.A. with Prof. Dimitri Azar, Department of Refractive Surgery und corneal surgery, focus on LASIK
  • 1999-2001 Head of the Refractive Surgery Department and introction of Lasik at the University of Würzburg, Germany.
  • since 1999 Refractive surgeon with more than 6,000 independently performed procedures, primarily LASIK.
  • since 2002 Medical Director of the Laser Eye Center Munich
  • since 2004 Femto-LASIK
  • since 2005 KRC-Trainer/Instructor (German Commission for Refractive Surgery)

  • December 1996 Dissertation: Magna Cum Laude
    Institute for Chemotherapeutic Research Georg-Speyer-Haus, Frankfurt, Germany, headed by Prof. Dr. Hans Dieter Brede and Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Helga Rübsamen-Waigmann.
  • Multiple Best-Paper-of-Session-Award at the yearly conferences of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery
  • 2005 “Oscar” (endowed research award) for the best scientific poster at the congress of the German Ophthalmic Surgeons in Nürnberg in June 2005.
